We have all see a multitude of posts of the "I ordered such-and-such from XYZ, Inc., and they lost/broke/are taking forever/etc." type. We all love to gripe when something doesn't go exactly as we think it should. Me included.

Well, now for something completely different.

Last Thursday (19 Dec 2013), I went out to dinner with a friend. At this dinner, we exchanged holiday gifts. Knowing I love books and movies, her gift to me was an Amazon gift card.

After dinner, around 8:00 p.m., I went on-line and ordered a set of British comedies on DVDs from Amazon. I opted for the lowest-price shipping (5-7 working days).

Friday morning, I got an email from Amazon; my order was shipped and should arrive on Monday, 23 December. I was surprised and considered this extremely fast for the el-cheapo shipping. Especially during the holiday season.

They lied! My DVDs arrived on Saturday, 23 December! And via the USPS yet! During the peak of the Christmas rush!

I think both Amazon and the USPS deserve kudos for good service! Two days to deliver a parcel with the cheapest shipping rate during the peak of the Christmas rush is outstanding! Great work, guys!

Not surprising for Amazon IMO, the fact that USPS didn't mess up though, WOW!

I love the efficiency that is Amazon. They have their act together and I, too, always opt for the free (non Prime) shipping. The majority of the time I get my stuff sooner than expected.

They were too busy losing my (ebay) package for a week.

2 Day Priority (as if) box supposed to be delivered on 12/17 finally showed up today.

The extra week for delivery was apparently necessary to reduce the exterior of the box to shreds.

Postal service, IRS and now healthcare. We are all doomed.
