I've been following the directions to the letter, and I simply cannot seem to get them to work. I duplicate the background layer, run a surface mask, load the mask, create a hide selection layer (also tried a reveal selection layer), and run NN. I can't tell that it is doing anything at all.

It seems that regardless of whether I was using the edge or surface mask actions, I needed to manually invert them in order to get them to work properly. Also, it seemed to work much better if I ignored the part of the directions about creating additional layers.
