Thanks for the heads up that the new edition is finally coming out. Hopefully the updated Sibley field guides are not far behind.

I saw that last week but unfortunately, my 9 yo had the North American edition on his wish list for Christmas and I couldn't wait, so I ended up ordering the National Geographic version. He has the Sibley Western North America field guide and loves it so much, it is coming apart at the seams as it accompanies him everywhere. :)

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Will it be available for the smart phones, too?

Ugh. And I just bought the first edition a couple months ago. Any feedback on the primary differences?

I haven't received mine yet. There should be updated maps, updated info... When I receive mine I will let you know.

So has anyone received the second addition of the Sibley guide, reviewed it and what is your opinion? The negative reviews on the print being hard to see is keeping me from ordering it as a gift for an 83 year old relative.

I received my book last week and I love it. The book is full of new information, but the writing is a little small. I can see the writing fine, but someone older might struggle. Keep in mind that the book is 600 pages. Larger writing would make this book ginormous! I will post a photo for you in a little bit.

Thanks for the reply Thomas, I think your photo of the book is a good one. I ordered a copy of the NG of N America and will likely order the Sibley also at a later date. Going to wait and see If they reprint it soon. It may not be that big of an issue. Living 120 miles from a book store is not convenient.

Do you think you could post a couple images of the Dowitcher page and the Scaup? The four of those species are my "quick review" of a guide. The images look different from the original as well. That's why I would really appreciate a couple images of those pages. Much thanks.
