Out in Vancouver for Christmas with my kids and they took me down to the bird sanctuary yesterday so that I could feed the bird addiction. It was cloudy, overcast and dark and a glorious time. There are birds there that I don't normally get a chance to see such as these pair. They were a loong ways away but still came out not too badly. These were taken with the 500mm on a monopod as I did not want the weight of the tripod for the flight. Might want to reconsider after yesterday.

Any and all comments appreciated and welcome.

Merry Christmas to all and your families.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

It was a great day. The Sandhills have become quite tame and actually were out on the path at the entrance, mixing it up with all the ducks for seed from people. I much prefer them in a more natural setting.

Thanks, I was lucky that this pair came out as I was passing.

This was the first time with the monopod and the big lens. A real learning experience, in the future am going to make a bigger effort to bring the tripod if possible.
