Which way is up ????

First i would like to wish everyone a merry christmas and a happy new year. My problem is i
have not done to much photo printing and in an attempt to correct that i had bought a canon mg6220 printer and some canon matte paper ( mp-101 ) now the problem may or may not be funny to you but my problem is which side do you print on. There is not writing on the back. I had one picture turn out great and the second one all the blacks were a muddy grey. So i am not sure if i put the second sheet in backwards or not.

I am not familiar with the specific paper, but most inkjet paper has a coating on the print side. If you hold the paper under light at an angle to your eyes, you can usually distinguish between the brighter side (that may have a slight texture to the surface), which is the print side and the smother, duller gray (relatively speaking) side, which is the back.

This works on most papers. Lick your finger and touch the paper. Whatever side your finger sticks to is the printable side.

ok thanks you would think that they would put their logo or something on the back

The Canon matte is a very useful paper because of it's decent quality at a very low price - usually about $5 -$10 for 50 sheets. I use it for proofs and one sided point of sale or promotional pieces. I don't use it for good photographs although it prints photographs quite well if you like a lightweight, bright matte surface.

It only has one printable side which is much brighter than the other side. Take the pack to a strong light and look for the brighter side. That's the side to print on. After I find the correct side, I mark "this side" on the cardboard box liner on the printable side. Then I always know which side to use regardless of light.
