It be nice to have a separate thread about copyrights. I for one would like more information about it. I'm not a pro and worry about usage of images. I'm a member of NAPP and Kelby has an article in January 2014 issue about costing only $35.00 for the application to copyright.

1) how file
2) how many images can be filed
3) etc

Thanks.

You could always search, or since you used a descriptive title, the forum has done a mini-search for you. Look at the links at the very bottom left hand corner of this page.

Non-lawyer here, but most of your questions (assuming you're in USA) can be answered by reading this: http://www.copyright.gov/help/faq/faq-general.html (external link)

To make it easy,

1) you can, it's optional to do so, but not required
2) more important question is when to file, there's not a limit mentioned.
3) etc: if you're just shooting general purpose images, registration is not really a big deal. but if you are shooting something that will likely be infringed, having a registered piece be infringed will get you additional damages.

Had gear, but sold it off. Starting back in with a SL1 / kit lens. Looking to expand the collection.

You can register a large group of images online but instead of uploading them (slow and prone to failure) print a mailing label and send a DVD. Output a second DVD and keep it with a copy of your registration and the certificate you get back from the copyright office. This makes it easy to determine which image is associated with a specific registration.
