Too much negative space?

Not sure about the crop on this one. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't, sometimes I feel it's annoyingly pretentious. Share your thoughts, please.

I like the negative space. If anything, I would have tossed just a bit more in. She looks to be pondering/dreaming and negative space lends to that by giving her more room to dream.

But then i see the tilted lines and my brain cant unsee them.

My personal preference is to fill the frame with adorable subjects :)
The backdrop is no where near as entertaining as your subject.

I like the negative space, but in this case it seems a bit dark. I'd throw in a gradient filter to even out the vignetting(?) that I see at the top. Seems the sense of thought and wonderment needs a brighter 'off in the distance' to me.
