This vendor is rock-solid, but normally does not offer deep discounts. I wonder if the pricing is starting to drop.

That's a little cheaper than the Roberts deal I posted earlier. Lets hope this is gonna be the norm finally.

Costco just promoted a 30% drop (1G Sandisk II's for $65)...others have been heading that way....I am going to wait a bit longer. Even B&H has some reasonably priced cards and they are always high on cards...

I just snagged some 2G Kingstons for $90 (with rebate), but I wouldn't mind another 4-8 gigs of cards before my shooting season begins.

Yes, I was surprised to see Sandisk pricing down to the Kingston level-with no rebate mess-from this vendor.

It's a little odd that only a few on line e-tailer's are able to offer these discount prices first.

Got my 2 GB Ultra II from Robert's Imaging in Indianapolis, IN. They haven't got CC authorization yet so hopefully it'll ship out early next week. At these prices I can want a little.

Canoga Camera has 'em even a little cheaper: http://www.canogacamera.com/detail.aspx?ID=4112 (external link)

If Roberts can't process my order by Tuesday I'll cancel and go with Canoga.

They are. They dropped significantly 3 weeks ago in Denmark.

Speed and build quailty. Extreme are built for more extreme environments than ultra.

yes I found a bit more to read about Ultra and Extreme. Extreme has better than twice the read/write speed. Plus other attributes,

Thing to ask yourself is....how often do I actually go shoot in the extreme environments?

And extreme means exactly that....the arctic...the rainforests....the jungles...it doesn't mean "Oh I have no problems going outside in my back yard to shoot when it's cold!"

So for most of us I would think the Kingston "non-extreme" cards are plenty durable.

Just my 2 cents.

When the price between Ultra II and Extreme III is so low I pick the Extreme even if I never get to the arctic, rainforrest etc...

I agree that when there's very little price difference, get the best you can.

(I hadn't looked at the prices when I commented)

No but I believe the USB 2 or firewire reader (if you use one) can.
