Hi,
I'd like to buy a 70D here in Italy and I am following the prices trend: currently I noted that the price is about 850-950€ since early December. After Christmas can I hope a downgrade of prices? In the past years how was the trend of prices of EOS models?
Thanks in advance for your help.

prices can also rise a bit due to currency fluctuations etc.

one camera shop (big on national level) in Finland is currently advertising their rebate campaign for Canon gear, and has announced price increases after 1.1.2014. due to "contractual reasons".

I wake this thread because I'm noting some downsizing of the prices on online stores here in Italy, do somebody note something similar in your countries?

amazon.de lists it for EUR 908.

This is the price trend from preistrend.de

Here in the UK cameras tend to be stupidly expensive for the first three months while the idiots who simply must have the newest and shiniest toys spend lots of cash for the priviledge. After that period the price drops by around 25% and stays there for a long time.

Here's the data for the 70D - http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk …l-SLRs/Canon-EOS-70D-Body (external link)

ain't that the truth :( based on the current exchange rates then the 70D is around €1000

I'm going to the Photography Show next month, so hoping to see some special offer prices for both the 7D and 70D but how 'special' the prices will be remains to be seen

Yeah, things seem to be different in the US. I guess it's because there are so many different sources that discounting happens immediately, so you don't get that initial high price for early adopters.

Here, in the UK, we have just a few big suppliers. They seem to have an unspoken agreement (because it would be illegal if it was a spoken agreement) that they'll all keep their prices high for a new launch. That way they can all share in the huge profits to be made from the early adopters. Only when sales start to lag will one of them drop the prices, immediately followed by the others.

You are right but this can also be due to a specific commercial policy from the house mother (i.e. Canon) that doen't discount its brand new product at the early stage of the launch.

Nope. Canon set a MRP and that stays pretty constant.

In these last days Amazon Italy and France dropped the price for 70D (only body) to less than 900€. Now in Italy there is also a Canon campaign "Cashback" that for this model offer 70€ cashback. So the final price will be 830€, very interesting.
