An an amateur and I'm just venturing into studio lighting. I have a couple of Einsteins with triggers, a 24x30 soft box, a 64" PLM umbrella, a 22" beauty dish and a Sekonic L-478DR. My problem is that a feel like a guy driving a Ferrari driving around my subdivision in 1st. gear. The portraits that I've taken look ok but I think I could be better. The problem is I'm not sure what's wrong and how to correct it.
I've taken a class, read some books, watched a few videos but still feel like things are not clicking.
Can anyone point me to (preferably) a video that will kind of walk a guy like me through the process of setting up lights for portrait photography?
Thanks for your input and help.

Well, you could try B&H and Adorama, who have lots of free videos. You could drop the $25 for a one month subscription to Kelby Training and watch videos until your eyes bleed, lots of good videos there.

Have you checked out Scott Kelby's online videos/courses? I would suggest you check them out.

I find the best way to learn is post up your images for critique... People can then advise on what you have done or what could be done better...

I agree! Mark Wallace has made some pretty good instructional videos at Adorama, and B&H has several longer videos on studio gear. Both are excellent, free sources!

Frank Doorhof's videos on Kelby training are fantastic. He even uses the same light meter, I believe.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've watched a couple on both Adorama and B&H. B&H seems a bit more towards selling products (can't blame them, they're paying for the production) while Adorama was a bit overwhelming (94 vids. on studio lighting and gear). It would be nice if they would put the length of the video in the index as well.
Thanks again for the help.
