Been jonesing for the windows version of Lightroom, seems like it is precisely the app I have been looking for to edit and organize my photos as I grow from just snaps to more... focussed... photography. I'm really hoping the windows binaries arent too far off. In fact, I wound up pre-ordering a Macbook Pro but then came to my senses and realized how much glass that would buy me so cancelled the order, but I'm still tempted to get an older powerbook in the mean time to dork around on.

..Which led me to get off my ass and download Raw Shooter Essentials. It definitly is more to my style of thinking than Adobe Camera Raw is. I'm tempted to go ahead and spring for the full version, but now i see they have cranked the price up to $99 from the $60 intro price and... well its been 8 months since they released the last version and PMA is right around the corner, I just know if I blew the $100 for it a new version will come out or it will sit on a shelf once I get Lightroom. Thinking I'll ride it out the 3 more weeks till the show at least.

So anyway, the early buzz is that there wont be too many big announcements since this is a year that has both a PMA and a Photokina, but what are others on the list hoping to see announced software wise?

Sam

good idea (imho) not getting the first MacBook Pros that come out. the universal binaries will start to come out relatively soon and i expect they will start to have peripherals for the new card slot soon, too.

as for the software - it's kinda apples and oranges. RSE is quite good at raw but lightroom is designed to do so much more - organise, process/pre-process/batch, classify,export/web/book, etc. . as you say, hopefully the windows version comes out soon. more importantly, hopefully a more feature complete version comes out soon for both platforms. hopefully PMA gives us a little more insight into what's coming soon.

Ya know, it's sad that I have the Lightroom Beta on my Mac and I have no idea what it does. I think I've only fired it up twice.

Brandt - watch the video and you'll instantly understand it and know how to use most all of its functions.
