Amazon deal of the day. One example is 32Gb Extreme 45Mb/s class 10 is $25. Less than a dollar a Gig which is a good buy.

No good Sandisk CF deals.

Been checking out 1000x CF cards. Komputerbay 32gb 1000x is looking like a deal compared to the Lexars.

$279 for a 480 GB SSD though. Amazing how much prices have come down.

Komputerbay cards do look like a great deal but are you brave enough to trust them with your files? Too many complaints about lost files on these cards…

I bought the 2-pack of 16gb Lexar x1000 from Buydig yesterday for $99. There is a $10 off $100 ("EndofYear10") if you get a cheap filler item.

I also upgraded the firmware on my transcend USB 3.0 reader. Read a couple horror stories on corruption with UDMA 7 on some readers,

I had no idea they had firmware. THIS is my exact reader! Yay something cool to do when I get home!!!

I kept getting "USB device not recognized" message, I have exactly the same model, now it's fixed. Thanks!

Lexar 1000x CF cards use Taiwanese company, SMI, controller, NAND from Micron. SMI sells controller and FW as a package, little development involvement from Lexar except testing and qualification.

Komputerbay CF also uses the same SMI controller and Micro NAND. Granted Lexar being a larger company, they may have a tigher testing and qualification procedure from Komputerbay. Other than that, they have basically the same hardware and firmware
