I think I need to tweak my settings a bit for ice hockey. The focus is a touch soft at times (I think).

I've got them as follows:

Tracking sensitivity: 0
Accel./Decel. Tracking: 0
AI Servo 1st image priority: Focus
AI Servo 2nd image priority: Middle (between speed and focus)

Is there something that I should change?

Depends on why they are soft.
Does the camera not track quickly enough when they change speed/direction?
Do you slip the used AF point from the player sometimes?
Which AF point selection mode are you using?
How fast are you shooting (frame rate)?

I am not sure many people use 70D for sports. However, there are many posts regarding 7D settings for sports. That may be of some help as a starting point.

Sorry. I missed the responses until now.

I've changed some things, including my F2.ii settings. I'm only having problems when I can't keep my focus point on the player.

I'll post my new settings later. . . 5:30am and we're heading out the door to the rink.

I'm now using :

Tracking sensitivity: 0
Accel./Decel. Tracking: 0
AI Servo 1st image priority: Focus
AI Servo 2nd image priority: Focus

As far as additional focus options go, I now only use the centre focus point. I try to keep the focus point on the subject's face. This was really hard to get used to. If I want to change the composition of the photo afterwards, I crop it.

I alternate between AI Servo and AI Focus. I seem to have more keepers with AI Focus for some reason.

At this point, focus is only an issue when I can't keep up with the subject, or when the mask instead of the face is focused on.

Keep the focus point on the waist/ belt line and things will become easier. The depth of field should still have that individual's face in focus.

You can go to the following site to see what affect focal length, f-stop and distance to subject have on depth of field.

I do believe the red confirmation light does not show when in AI Servo, but it does show in One shot.
