Full frame better for portraits? Especially indoor?

I mostly shoot photos of my kids, and a lot of times it's indoors. I want to get a new camera body and I wonder if I should look to pick up a used 5d2 over like a 60d. I realize its more expensive but I wonder if I'd be better off with a full frame camera. I never use my 85 because its almost always too long. Even the 50 is too long sometimes. The only downside I see besides cost would be when they start playing sports and I'd want to shoot photos at the field.

My main goals with a new camera are better ISO, spot metering, larger screen and a bigger more professional feel in my hands.

What do you think? Also, i forget, will the Sigma 30 work on a full frame? I'm thinking it will not.

Thanks!

No, it won't.

The good news is that yours others lenses will work beautifully in a FF. Your 85 (in the FF) will get the FOV of your 50 (in the XTi), and your 50 will get the FOV of your 30.

Get the 6D, sell the Sigma. Later get another lens if you find 85mm too short on FF compared to your crop XTI.

Cool! I like the 6D recommendation and think that I'd be real happy with it.

To the extend the more pro feel you are looking for, I'd check out the 6D in a store before ordering. It does not have this feel vs a 7D or 5D. An alternative consideration at that price point is a used 5DMk2. Otherwise, it seems like the 6D would meet your needs and something you'd be very happy with :)
