I'm starting to use compatible ink for my printer and I'm encoutering some problems with color rendition. I think it's due to the non existence of the right profile. So I had a look at the printer calibration solutions and I see that it is very expensive...
So I'm sending a call to everyone who has a printer calibration tool and who has created specific profiles to share them here, so as other people that uses the same configuration can use them.
A profile is specific to : printer, ink, paper, printing quality.
So if you share your profile, please indicate this information.
Thanks.

I have and aside from the unpredictable colour, brightness and the blockages they were useful at the time.
But eventually I wanted the colours on the screen and in print to have some sort of relationship.

My ICC profiles are all for a combination of printer and paper. Are you suggesting that we need separate ICC profiles for each combo of printer, ink, and paper?

Yes. I'm using right now Sudhaus ink and the rendering is not exactly the same as the original canon ink.

Simplest solution....go back to Canon ink. You can usually find it on eBay on the cheap.

No, never going back to canon again. As long as they maintain their outrageous strategy (see my post here) and expensive prices, I prefer to use compatible ink or print my pics online rather than using canon ink.

Good luck. Let us all know how you develop ICC profiles for a given printer, a specific paper, and a 3rd party ink.

Sorry but people generally don't spend 1500 dollars on a calibrator to fine tune 3rd party inks on 100 dollar printers.....

Good luck on your search.

If you're doing you own printing, some of the high-end calibrators have software that enables you to calibrate your printer as well as you monitor, for example I believe Spyder4 Elite lets you do that...have you tried that?

That means creating a custom profile for every different paper type you will use. I have never heard of a published ICC profile list that covers 3 variables (printer, ink, paper) from 3 different companies. Published ICC profiles are usually from paper companies that specify a printer with the assumption that you are using the printer's native ink, not 3rd party ink.

Personally I download profiles from Moab and other paper companies as needed for our two injects (one is dye ink and the other uses pigment ink). I always stick with Canon ink.
