Would you take all your Canon gear you have now, sell it all and buy the competitors gear if you had to do it? Ie.. Nikon, Sony, Olympus etc...

If no, then what is the one piece of gear that you just cant part with?

I will go first and my answer is yes. I really dig the new Nikon df. There really isnt any gear that keeps me with Canon. However i really dig the 5d mark iii.

No. I would never sell my 600mm. Nikons super teles are really good, but not as good as Canon. Nikons 2x converter is crap.

No. No offense, but Nikon cameras are ugly. Strangely, I am not female.

The one item keeping me with Canon is my 400/5.6 - Nikon apparently doesn't have anything comparable (at least pricewise), and some of my Nikon-using friends wish they did. But other than that, I'd have no problem switching.

I tried and I could not
i sold most of my canon gear and left three lenses
50 f/1.4 , 85 f/1.8 , MP-E 65 f/2.8 macro
I don't like any other menus
just the canon
yes I hate the 5D3 and the 6D because they dont have a pop-up flash
but I can't go for the nikon for that reason

Genuine curiosity... what is it about the Df that you like? To me that's the biggest "wtf?" camera of the year.

why would you want a popup flash on a 6d or 5diii? :|. They're terrible for lighting and they are an avenue for crap to get in the body...

If I had to, as in had a gun to my head; sure, transitioning over would be fine. I'd miss the 70-200 MkII and my 100-400 and the menus would drive me batty, though.

+1

I bet it's the retro wannabe look :p

It apparently has the best low light performance, but apart from that it's an overall mediocre package.

Back in the film days of the '90s I would have said ABSOLUTELY NOT because Eye-Controlled Focus Point selection was exclusively Canon. But now in the digital age, I'm just waiting for whoever gets ECF first. Could be Canon or could be Sony, if any of the rumors are correct.

One advantage of using third party lenses is that they are available for both canon and nokin, "simply" get the same lenses with the other mount.
Would not part from my canon printer, this piece of equipment is really suited for use with any brand.

Interesting you should Ask.... I had Purchased a Nikon D-5100 Combo and it was actually a pretty good Setup I am Learning so I really don't know what to look for as far as Quality goes but I had it for about a week and I had had an Idea to go down to the river and try and find something interesting to shoot, Here in Ga. its a little Cold early in the Morning but I took the Camera out and as soon as I took it into the cold The lens fogged up I took a lens cloth and wiped it and gave it a little time to adjust after shooting for a couple of hours I went home and looked at my progress. only to find a little Blur in the lower left corner of all the pictures . I took my lens off of the Body and looked into it and I could see still a foggy haze in the corner of the inside, I left it inside still in the Caps for two days still had the Fog. So I took the whole kit back and Swapped for another complete setup. only to find 3 days later this one did the exact same thing.. That's when I swapped to canon!

Gear List :EOS 70D ,Sigma 50mm 1.4,Tamron 18-270, Canon 18-55,Canon HFM31,Canon SX280HS,Olympus E-10 ,

I couldn't. Ive shot Nikon before and just havent ever liked the way they have felt. Also I shoot quite a bit of video, and haven't ever loved shooting video on any other system quite like I have my Canon dslrs. That being said I would love to have an a7. Gunna have to wait and see what the mirrorless market does in the next little bit.
