I seem to remember seeing somebody made a small cheap setup to photograph small items. I think it mainly consisted of white cardboard or paper setup in an arch of somekind.

Can anybody remember that thread?

I don't remember if it was here or another forum, but I read once someone put a smoothly curved white posterboard inside one of those large, translucent RubberMaid storage tubs on its side. The tub served as a diffuser.

Don't know if that's the idea you were looking for. Haven't tried it, but I want to. Sounded pretty sensible.

Bloo used tupperware to good effect but he's long gone from here along with his tutorials. I've never used that sort of set-up & usually start with an umbrella, or bouncing off a white card or wall. You've seen my sticky, right? ;)

Sort of ;)

I read the subjects in the sticky but thought that it was not what I was looking for.

I am not prepared to go out and buy specialised equimpent for this. The reason I asked this question is because I am considering to sell my P&S and wanted to take a few photos of it. I remembered I had seen someone make a very simple setup with white cardboard and thought I would attempt that if I could find the thread again. It had a photo of the setup .

By "subjects" do you mean just the titles, or did you actually look in the "Coin" examples? I don't think you'd need to "buy specialised equimpent for this." & a technique that works for one reflective subject may well work for another.

Good example! How about putting that w/pics into this for other people who only read the titles? ;)

It's a cut up plastic milk jug. Helps to diffuse the shop light.

Jfrancho, it may look "ghetto" but you can't argue with the results! Super shots!

i made something very similar to jfrancho, but i hung a 30" diameter sewing hoop about 3-6" above my subject and used that same type of light to shine thru it. actually two lights, one on left other on right. the hoop contained a white nylon (like wind-breaker jacket lining) stretched out in it.

got these results:

Hey, check out some of the results SWATCOP got with a very simple setup near the bottom of page 3 of this thread! I guess it ain't rocket science! Careful setup of simple tools can yield great results.
