New Years Eve in Seattle

This photo was taken around 10pm on New Years Eve. Unfortunately this is the first and only shot of the night. By 11:30pm the fog rolled in so thick over the water that the Space Needle became completely blacked out. Once midnight hit the only reason people knew that it was New Years was from the sound of the fireworks exploding above the Space Needle. Not a single bit of light from the fireworks was able to penetrate through the thick fog. It basically ruined the rest of my night since I went home without a single firework shot. I guess I'll try again in 365 days.

I heard about the "magic trick" that made the Needle completely disappear later in the evening. Great shot!

When I first got there around 10pm until about 11pm, you could still see the stars in the sky. I was so happy because it was going to be a clear night. Then as the fog rolled in, you couldn't even see the boat(s) that were 40 yards in front.

Yeah it was very unfortunate. Hopefully it will be better next year. And there is always the 4th of July!

Agreed, I didn't have my DSLR this past July, so I'm looking forward to trying some fireworks shots.
