I would recommend these Op/Tech connectors for your Industry Disgrace strap. They will instantly turn your strap into a quick-disconnect.

DO NOT HANG A HEAVY CAMERA FROM THOSE

Op/TECH has their hardware made for them by Duraflex. Those lanyard connectors are a custom piece Duraflex makes for them (the female half is catalog 1/2" Mojave fixed bar, the male half with the lanyard is custom for Op/TECH).

We tested the same hardware and found it only holds about 50lb in a static load. Yank on it with a dynamic load (like from a strap), and those things disconnect super easy. They are great for something like am M4/3 or EVIL size camera, but are absolutely unsuitable for an SLR size rig with heavy L glass.

Any strap that will carry an SLR with plastic side release buckles needs to use a minimum of a 1" SRB, and it better be made by either Duraflex/National Molding or ITW Nexus. Anything smaller just won't have the lock strength and my experience with all the no-name Chinese buckles is that they are absolute crap.

A couple of months shy of 20 years ago, I bought myself an OP/TECH USA "Fashion Strap" (http://optechusa.com/fashion-strap.html (external link)) and have used it on a series of cameras starting with a Nikon F50D with a Tamron 28-200 f1:3.8-5.6. More recently I have used an Olympus E-3 with an Olympus Zuiko Digital ED 12-60mm f2.8-4.0 SWD as a carrying lens, but with Olympus Zuiko Digital 40-150mm 1:3.5-4.5 or Olympus Zuiko Digital 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 when I am taking photos of wild game. None of the camera / lens combinations which I have used can be considered to be "light".

I am now using the strap with a Canon EOS-6D with either an EF 24-105mm 1:4 L IS USM or an EF 100-400 1:4.5-5.6 L IS, quite often while carrying a Speedlight 600EX-RT as well.

Here is a photo of some of my gear in the Kruger Park in November 2012. - You will see part of the OPT/TECH strap holding the E-3:

This afternoon, I strung my 6D from a door knob and took this photo. (Sorry about the back-light. - I took it in a bit of a hurry with a little P&S)

Here is a connector after 20 years' use:

IMAGE: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-xvWIX7GwgOY/UttJvFfO8RI/AAAAAAACbgI/890denj8Bh0/s1024/P1190004.jpg

You will note from the link to OP/TECH and the photo of the 6D that the strap itself is made of a type of neoprene stretchable material to make the camera jar less on your neck while walking. Presumably this also helps with the durability of the connectors. I originally bought this strap to make it easier to carry the heavy combination of Nikon camera with Tamron lens. It has performed this task (and more) admirably over the past nearly 20 years.

That Op/TECH is perfectly fine for your camera!

It's the small, 1/2" molded lanyards. Op/TECH sells them for compact cameras. They should NOT be used on bigger cameras.

The 1" lanyards with the leather and sewn cord are perfectly well suited to larger cameras. In fact, Luma launched our original Loop with a similar design.

That's a lot of weight for the dual strap so I'll tell you what I know from using one for the last 3 seasons of R/C event coverage. I wear 2 1 series bodies and before I bought the 28-300 L IS I had a 35-350 L on one of them & the 100-400 L IS on the other. I've never had a QR release to date AND the good news is that if 1 does the camera is still retained but now 1 retainer is holding a lot of weight but unlike a neck strap it wouldn't fall instantly.

EDITED TO ADD.

That's not the dual strap I use mine has 2 QR's per camera BUT I've been warned not to use the camera to carry the weight of the 300 f2.8 L IS. Use either the lugs on the lens or if you trust a single attachment point use the lens foot's thread.

This is the one I've been using http://www.procameragear.com …_info.php/products_id/796 (external link)

The OpTech strap can deal with the 300 f/2.8 IS if needed. I had a PacSafe strap on my 300 and an OpTech POTN strap on the 1D3 it was attached to when the stitching on the PacSafe strap pulled out. Fortunately, I was able to grab the camera before everything hit the ground, but I spent the rest of the day carrying that rig on the OpTech.

I've always been leery of putting a FF DSLR + L glass on that type of connector; though I've never had one... Just seems iffy for all day walking around...
