I can't carry the gear that I usually have in my vehicle in one bag.

What do you do?

My solution; a short bag, 5D2,16-35, 24-105, flash, and filters/battery etc.

Long bag (backpack) 1D4, 70-200, 500, 1.4X & 2X extenders, filters/battery.

Tripod, monopod, beanbag, & vehicle camera mount under the back seat.

TAPEMAN - Good you have a solution that works for you.

I found bag criteria based on applications rather than type of equipment is the most efficient strategy for me, with a ready to go approach. One bag for camera gear and one bag for lighting/hardware & modifiers, regardless of the application. Obviously everyone has different sort or tactical approaches.

For events, weddings & location portraits applications when I want to carry a lot of gear...
I use Think Tank Aiport International V2, Lowepro ProRoller X200, or Lowepro Magnum 400AW (including up 6 - 600EX-RT's).

For the 500f4L, faced with a similar situation as you for many years & after several bag iterations, here is another possible solution (found recently with the help of the nice people here on POTN’s) that works for me for nature & sports applications…
A quality bag, the GURA GEAR BATAFLAE 32L:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com …e_32L_Backpack_Black.html (external link)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4-AtEdSfVg (external link) (8:17 minute product video of the 30L predecessor)
Left side: (camera ready)
1DmkIII with mounted 500f4L+ TC1.4x mkII
TC2x mkII

Right Side: (camera ready)
5DmkIII with mounted 70-200f2.8L IS mkII+TC2x mkIII
600EX-RT
ST-E3-RT
Better Beam
24-70f2.8L mkII

External right side:
Gitzo or Manfrotto tripod

This distrubtion enables a balanced pack for a scenario of having the 1DmkIII with mounted 500f4 + TC1.4mkII etc. with tripod carried, while utilizing the 70-200f2.8 IS mkII +2xTCmkIII, or vice versa.

Sometimes with this:
Wesco Mini Mover Folding Handtruck:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com …er_Folding_Handtruck.html (external link)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8i9mPyAk39A (external link) (54 second video)
for when on easy–mid uneven surfaces, then it is quickly & easily stashed (in bushes or somewhere obscure/cable locked, to be retrieved later) when surfaces or terrain get rough, then the Gura Gear bag can be quickly backpacked.

(bring on the funny snow monkeys in Japan, or penguins in Antarctica!)
