100mm f/2.8 L Macro is a great portrait/wedding lens.

To be honest, it's a good all around telephoto lens. It's super versatile. I eventually plan on buying it after I get a 70-200. To add to its awesomeness, it's also super lightweight.

Oh, right, I forgot to mention that it's sharp as all hell too.

What's the EXIF on your first photo; looks a bit grainy.

But yeah, 100mm F/2.8L IS is the master race of all primes.

IS gives you better control; something that the 135mm f/2 will never have.

agreed. it's pretty awesome. and I love it when I think doh, I'm TOO close for this portrait because i'm used to the MFD of my 70-200, and then I realize, wait, its a MACRO. Let's go ever closer. cheese :)

It doesn't look grainy at 100%. I think it might just be Flickr.

@ilumo, I'm a big fan of the awkward close-up eye shots--like this:

I wish I had the macro to assist with those, haha.

A bit on the long end for all-round wedding pics in tight spaces.
A bit of a brutal lens for portraits. Sharp as hell, aged woman hate them!

Good luck,

I really like mine. It goes on my camera just as everyone settles down to eat. I can wander around getting detail shots and its long enough to usually snap a quick shot of B&G if they do something interesting without a lens change.

I'm not a big fan of it myself, I feel it's a bit too long and slow for indoor stuff (where 50L and 85L are king) yet outdoors it's a bit too short (where 70-200 and 200L are king)

Probably very versatile for wedding photography, given it's a very good portrait lens, excellent macro lens for rings/up close shots, and has is.

I've now used both and the bokeh is better on the 135, but probably wouldn't be noticed. Both are very sharp.
I actually was deciding between the 100mm and 85mm zeiss and ended up going with the zeiss... I just didn't need that long a focal length and I really fell in love with the way the planar rendered the image.
