Well, for those of you who are married (speaking to the guys, sorry, ladies) you understand the dangers in trying to 'teach' your wife anything.
My wife wants to learn photography with my trusty Rebel XT, and I'm all for it, because it helps me formulate an excuse for getting a new body.
When these cameras came out, back in 2005, Canon had incredible tutorial resources done by professional photographers using the actual equipment. I remember they were incredibly high quality, but I was not computer savvy enough to save any of them (they were protected). They had them for the 580EX flash I have, also (not the II version, the old version).
Of course, Canon no longer has anything on these old products on their site (that I can locate). My wife responds well to video instruction in small bites, and those old resources would be IDEAL. Is anyone aware of a source that has archived any of those old tutorials? Failing that, is anyone aware of other quality videos for the Rebel XT? Being old, it's not a hot topic right now.
Profile of the wife: She is not technically patient-- not interested in learning about exposure basics, wants to use mostly automatic or creative modes built into the camera. Her complaint with me is I try to teach her too much. She wants to know where the "National Geographic Photographer" mode switch is without a lot of explanation (at least from me), if you know what I mean.
Thanks for any help you can offer. What she'll be playing with is a Rebel XT with Canon Battery Grip, the EFS 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens, and the original model 580EX Canon Speedlite. Any tutorials on the flash would be helpful, also.
She won't peruse the forum looking for answers, either, she's not that type. I'd obviously like to get out of the middle, it's a dangerous place to be. Thanks!
