Reds are clipped, causing loss of detail. This is a situation where your RGB histogram is a useful tool. If you looked at it for this shot, the red peak would be all the way on the right. The basic problem is that your light meter gives you a "typical" exposure using all color channels. If one is very bright and the others muted, the camera will overexpose the bright one, as it has here.

Below is the Photoshop red channel for the flower. 'Nuff said?

Secondly, flowers have faces. So they look their best when they're "looking" into the center of the shot. You have this one looking out the top edge. Try dropping it down to the lower axis of the rule of thirds.

And a different crop.. I was trying to preserve the yellow flower on the left, to make the background a bit less uniform. Not personally sure which crop I prefer.

I like the first crop better without the poppy so centered.
