What you are trying to capture (your vision) is terrific. The background significantly detracts from the image. If you could have maneuvered your camera so that the background was much cleaner, in my opinion, the image would have worked better.

I think it would have worked better with my 50mm open much wider than in this shot (10-22mm lens, f/4.5, 1/800th and ISO 100, for those who like EXIF data.
