I know there's lots of moon shots in this forum, but I was just testing my 600L with 2x extender on the 7D, which almost fills the frame with the moon, and the detail it shows is very impressive. This is wide open (f/8 with the extender on) and I was going to test the improvement from stopping down, but the combination of strong wind and clouds put an end to my test almost as soon as it had begun.

Great shot! I really like the detail of the craters.

Wow! I like the ridges of the craters you see in the edge of the dark/light.

Very nice... Seems like I can almost reach out and touch it.. That's a great combo you're using.

Thanks for the positive comments all. Everything I try with the big lens really impresses me!

Awesome photo. I am hopeful of getting some shots this weekend. I have the 7D with the 2x Extender, but "only" 100-400mm reach.

I am hopeful to get something even remotely as good as this!

Equipment: Canon 7D, Canon 24-70mm 2.8L II USM, Canon 100-400mm 4.5-5.6L IS USM , Canon 50mm 1.4, Canon 10-22mm, Canon 2x Extender III, 580EX II
