I just bought a used copy of the old Siggy 50 1.4. I hope the new one is around $700 so I can convince myself it was a good decision. :D

13 elements including extremely expensive SLD glass, and some asphericals. Plus floating group, for minimal 0.4 m. focusing, and reducing distortions. Sigma promised to fight coma to extreme corners, and we must pay for everything, including improved AF.
This one could be pricey.

it could well be. I will be interested to see where they price it as it will be competing against the moderately priced Canon and Nikon 50/1.4 offerings (which the old one slightly undercuts) and also the L, 58/1.4 Nikkor and Zeiss lenses.

It does look as if its going to be quite a lot of pricier than Canon/Nikon versions, and even their older version. But if its optically similar to Sigma 35 1.4 I will be all over it though. Personally I think it will be in the $600-700, or that might be just wishful thinking :D.

Anyhow, I bought Canon EF 50 1.4 just recently and I was so disappointed with its performance wide open that I sold it in matter of days. So yeah even if it costs double what Canon and Nikon are asking for their versions I think it will probably be worth it.

Are the ART series the ones that work with the USB adjustment dock?

If so, I think I might have to try this. My 85 f1.4 is my best lens but sometimes the room is not big enough :)
