Well I don't see much point in waiting. Sigma's 85mm is already a great lens, it is unlikely they can make one significantly better. It's already sharper than the 85L, though the bokeh isn't as smooth. It's also sharper than the Sigma 35mm and the Canon 135mm! If not for the bokeh awesomeness of the 85L, the Sigma 85mm would have the spotlight. It's probably Sigma's best lens.

That looks so sweet. That is some awesome bokeh. I did it, got my preorder in. I wonder how long it will take to fill all the preorders? I hope I got in early enough.

I'm planning on getting a new lens this summer, this lens is looking so sweet but I think I'm more in the market for a canon 135mm f/2, and dont think i can justify owning a 35mm and 50mm. Maybe later.. :)

I started saving when I first heard about it. If it turned out to be just a rumor, I was still halfway to a 50L. It helps today is payday.

I'll wait and see actual reviews before making any claims. ;)

Wooowwww @ the review from S. Korea... the Sigma results look BONKERS. From the bokeh to the flare control, sharpness, everything looks spectacular. Can't wait to see some more results from peeps on this forum!

Isn't that why the dock exists?

Yes. I have one. But it's a pain in the a$$ to use and test.

that site is great, I think they did the S35 review, and it was spot on. Love their resolution test, and the sigma is as sharp wide open as the canon 50 stopped to at least F2.... That level of sharpness makes this lens in a clear different class. Damn hard to ignore this thing.

the starbursts on the sigma are top notch, but I'de never use it for that. The lens is ridiculously big, closer to otus than 50L

50 1.4 must be a third of the size.
