Arrrrgh, I give up...How do I add my signature to my pictures?

I'm using Photoshop CS. I've tried using these two tutorials but I can't figure it out.

I was able to make a signature using paint, but when I copy and paste it onto the image, the background of the signature isn't transparent. So what I tried doing was create a signature in Photoshop with the transparent background. Ok fine, I have that. I tried doing that stamp brush tool now. I've gone as far as creating a custom brush with my signature. But when I start using the brush, nothing comes out on the picture. The whole brush looks like its transparent. The tutorial said something about layers but never really elaborated on it. I'm really stumped on this. Thanks.

Cheap and Dirty:

Use a sharpie and sign a white piece of paper (blank...no lines)

Scan it at 300 dpi. Crop out the extra white space save it somewhere you can find it easily.

Now open any image you want to add it to, open the signature file, use the move tool (ctrl V) and drag the signaure into the new document. Change the blend mode to Multiply or Darken (whichever works best) and move it to where ever you want it.

Alternativley, for a White signature, use the same signature file, but hit Ctrl i and use the screen or lighten blend mode.

EDIT: Sorry, did read your post compleatly. If you still want to make a brush, open the Signature file (as described above, hit CTRL A (or select>all) then go to EDIT>DEFINE BRUSH. Don't know why the transparent one wasn't working for you, but it may have something to do with photoshop's "DEFINE BRUSH" not recognizing the transparencey. I know it automatically turns anything white into transparant but.... Also, if you did have the image flattened (one layer) it may not have selected what you thought you had....just a suggestion.

This sounds like a great way of doing it. I have my scanned sig open in a separate document, have made it a brush but when I brush it (using the selection brush tool) all I get is a marching ants outline of my sig but no colour. What am I doing wrong? should I use the tool on a separate layer? I am using PSE3..

Hmmm, still confused. Well, I actually have a signature brush saved already. Its just that when I use it now, I actually see it as a bluish color. How do I change the settings of this brush? All I can change are the size, but I want to make it a little bolder and also changed to white.

Unfortunatley, without actually seeing the brush, or how you made it, it's hard to say what went wrong. The could have been several things. Try starting from scratch and see how it works out. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

EOS Addict: Just re-read your post: DON'T use the selection Brush, just use a regular brush and select you signature. Then pic your brush colour (black I'm assuming) and click. Should work fine.

Hehe, this is what my brush looks right now. I'm using it on a plain white background. All I get is a gray colored signature. When I start applying the brush on pictures, I can't even see it.

Edit: So how do I change the brush's color? I have the two boxes set to black and white right now.

Nevermind, I finally figured it out. My opacity was at 1%. I dunno why it was there.

Now the next question: Is there a way where I can save this action and apply it to all my pictures? Or do I have to always open each pic and "stamp" my signature? I tried playing around with the create action and batch actions but I don't think using a brush gets to be recorded in an action. Any tips? Thanks.

Edit: Ok, completely figured it out already. I just went with the earwaks tutorial. Thanks guys.
