I have reluctantly agreed to photograph a friend who wants sexy yet tasteful images as a gift for his partner.

Could anyone advise on flattering poses for a tall, slim man? Searching the net provides poses for slim, muscular men or comedic poses for skinny men.

He's 6' 3” weighing around 80kg.

I'd ask in G&N section but don't have posting privileges Please delete if it's inappropriate to ask here.

Thank you

Steve

Any Calvin Klein or Abercrombie & Fitch catalog should give you some inspiration, though those are models and not your "average" slim body shape.

With proper lighting, you can emphasize muscles and make them appear where they normally wouldn't. Lighting from directly overhead won't be super flattering on the face, but will make muscle definition stand out - under the pectorals, the abs, etc.

Ask the subject what his partner finds most appealing about him, and emphasize that in your posing, lighting, and composition.

Thanks for replying.

I'd imagine lighting to emphasise muscle would also draw attention to ribs etc though?

Seated poses that allow the chest and abdomen to compress vertically might be better than standing poses. Have him sit on the floor and on supports of different heights. You can direct stronger lighting on his best features and leave his ribs dark, or whatever his less good features are. Inhaling and exhaling will change the appearance of his torso. Props can also be used to hide parts of the figure. If ribs are conspicuous in a frontal shot, he can hold his arms in front of them.

PRONOUN ADVISORY: OhLook is a she. | Comments welcome
