Bad for the cars but worse for the people - it's quite likely that the people involved are not ok. Lots of people gets long-term problems with pain after this kind of accident. :(

Glad everyone was ok! That's some high priced hardware being dragged to the junkyard!!

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Nice sharp set, and too bad about the cars. I'd also suspect they weren't that "all right" based on how they cut the cars up.

I said the same thing to myself.. There looks like no side, rear, or front structural damages on the Benz, (although the front of the Audi looks bad ) that would warrant the roof needing to be cut off.

Although the left side of the Benz, looks pretty bad above the rocker at the center post area. The door looks to have been cut off as well.

Any additional images of the Benz without the crew blocking?

It's also interesting they are extracting both passengers from the rear. Hence why they cut off the roof. I wonder if it's just their protocol?

Good shots though. Nicely exposed and sharp...

I believe the idea behind the roof removal etc is to be able to minimize any twisting or bending of the spine when getting them onto the back braces. With the open top, the back boards can be slid in directly behind them with out a lot of jarring. Material concerns go out the window.

I'd be happy to have my car roof cut off to minimize the possibility of additional or aggravated spinal injury getting pout of the car. This looks like they were taking VERY good care of the drivers.

It's common to remove the roof. I know a poor guy who stopped his car and helped a guy that had been in an accident, and let the guy sit in his car.

When rescue came and talked with the guy who crashed, he complained about pain in his back and neck - so the poor guy who just stopped to help got the roof of his car cut away just to make it easier to move the hurt guy to the stretcher.

"Expensive" is all relative to income. Roof off a car not involved in the accident....WOW!

Incredibly nice photos, so rare to see this quality of this subject/situation. Tastefully done as well. :)

I hope the OP knows something that we don't in terms of the outcome of the driver's health based on the title he gave.
