I've been asked to take a team picture of a semi-pro mens basketball team in an arena setting tomorrow night, but have no experience and no lighting - I've been honest with my team contact but he want a picture anyways.

Does anyone have any tips for me? I have 17-85mm lens and a basic flash unit(canon 280ex).

Thank You

Can you get them outside in some good light? Your flash isnt powerful enough to do a good job of lighting a group. The lighting inside of an arena is usually not well suited for existing light group shots.

LOL - Unfortunately, it's currently -18 outside and with the wind chill it feels like -38. I hope it's sunny where you are. Getting sick of Canadian winters.

What would be the ideal set up for a team picture? May look into buying some more flashes, etc.

Ideal would be a couple of monolights like the alien bees along with a couple large modifiers like the PLM system. You could probably make do with a pair of speedlites and a couple of shoot through umbrellas.
