Hey folks,
I got severall DVDs (around 40) that have been made from vhs-c cassettes. I want those to be ripped to the computer and cut into peaces, since there are more than one movie on one dvd.

How do I make this preferably without recoding.

regards

winam

Use a DVD ripper like DVD Shrink which can help you rip the DVD to your pc without recoding. I think this will work, because your DVD is homemade and should have no protection. If you want to copy some commercial DVD, you have to use other more solid DVD ripper to remove the protection. If the DVD is from the other region, you also can refer to this region code removal guide (external link) to Rip DVD.

purchase:

Any DVD Convertor (external link)

this will rip it to your choice of format to your computer. Then use a video editor to cut it up.

I've done this with a few favourites and using AppGeeker it's pretty easy to get good results. It has options to cut an entire movie to several parts.

You can rip to a various of file formats, and fit a bunch of movies on a SD card.

As all the DVD Discs are the homemade DVD and after recoding, the images will become poor and the code also takes time, you absolutely can copy the movies to PC, and then try TDA3 to cut the DVD into small pieces.

A professional DVD ripping tool is what you need. Handbrake is a top freeware(limited to non-protected DVDs). Or you can get Brorsoft DVD Ripper. It can help you to rip DVD to any format you want and store on your PC.

You don't want any new format. For best quality you want to re-use the same mpeg2 frames both when ripping and when cutting.

I use libdvdread's play_title and gopchop to do that.

My imagine composition sucks. I need a heavier lens.
