Frozen Bay

Its been really cold here in New York the past week or two, yesterday was a record low here on Long Island of 7 Degrees. Anyway, i went down to the the great south bay on long island and here's what i got from it.

I like the composition. However, the light is a bit harsh causing significant contrast. What time of day was it?

i dont see any harsh contrast. It was about an hour or so before sunset

I think it's beautiful and I love the lighting.

IF i were to do anything, i might stylise the foreground, dim or filter it,
just to keep the eye more on the shore/skyline colour,
just as an complementary/alternat​ive image, because i really like the contrast in the current one as it is.
