Polar Vortex kicked some butt on Long Island. Took at sunrise this morning from Robert Moses State Park in Babylon, NY.

Awesome shots, its summer here so we're not feeling the chill. But I can certainly see it in your images.

The ice structure on the last photo looks great. It's my favourite one.

Hi Matt - what I really like about #1 is the low angle foreground detail and interest. You've done a good job of processing the ice - coming right up to that boundary of almost overprocessed - and contrasting the diagnonal beautifully with the fine tracery of the distant bridge; a great contrast with the "wormy" ice shapes.

I also like the composition and arrangement of the second one - but there is something just a little off visually (to my eye) of the foreground posts appearing to hold up the distant bridge. It is still a pleasing picture, but I would have moved the FOV either up or down to place the post tops at a different point.

Looks good.

I like the effect HDR has on ice.

Very best,

Wow, those are some awesome shots! I wish Seattle got longer and colder winters with moisture. Its amazing that it rains here 250+ days of the year, but the moisture goes away when the temps drop below freezing.
