Remove the body cap, obviously, and don't actually trip the shutter because of sensor dust. But as you swing the camera around the room you should see it increase shutter speed pointing towards a light - I got 1/200 at ISO 100 just now pointing at a light, with my 5D.

You should get an image close to dark brown, like I do. If that's the case then it's normal for T3I/600D.
