My mother now lives up near the Lake District so when I go and visit her it's nice to go out for a few walks and try to snap some landscapes. The weather in the UK recently has been a bit on the wet side, but we did get a dry day at the very least so I took a few on a walk up to Castle Crag which is an interesting landscape with its history of slate quarrying ...

I struggled to get a shot which showed the intriguing slate path up to the top of the crag ...

And there's another intriguing monument to the quarrying at the top, lots of shards of slate laid out in a stone-circle style ... again I was struggling to get anything from the other side so ended up shooting back into the sun but I quite like the drama of that ...

And from the top ... I quite like the juxtaposition between the harsh, angular and disfigured quarried landscape of the foreground with the prettier, more natural one of the background.
