U.S NFL fans are already aware of last weekend's diving Andrew Luck fumble recovery touchdown during the Colts-Chiefs playoff game.

For those who are always asking about sports photo technique and equipment, here's a brief video  (external link)of a friend, veteran Indianapolis Star photographer Mike Fender, telling how he got a front-page image of Luck scoring the game's most dramatic touchdown. In short: Fender was in the right place at the right time. It probably didn't hurt that Fender was using a Canon 400mm lens, but that lens didn't take the picture by itself. It took a combination of experience and luck to catch Luck.
