Hello,

I've heard, that some users use a Canon 15 2.8 Fish-eye und "defished" the pictures.

Is this a good way?

How much picture will loss around the picture?

And how is the quality in the corner after defishing?

Current versions of Canon Digital Photo Professional can defish the EF 15mm f/2.8 fisheye in various ways and it works fairly well. Give it a try and see if it is adequate for your needs.

I have a 15mm FE and personally don't like to de-fish it completely. You do lose quite a bit of the image and sharpness. I will sometime de-dish it partially though, depending on the image. Buy a fisheye because you want a fisheye, not a rectilinear lens.

I saw these and was curious about the lens choice... is this an example of de-fished ?

Not sure. They may not have been touched - the horizon is close to the center, or they may have been partially corrected.

It's usually the curved horizon that is objectionable. This can be mitigated by placing it in the center or taking shots where there isn't really a horizon, or my allowing the more subtle curve to complement a photo.

At the end of the day, defishing often looks strange and the sharpness suffers. Better to deal with it in the composition.
