I purchased the Rosco "The Strobist Collection" gel pack. I've seen many others just slap these onto the front of their speedlites with a little gaffers tape down the sides but is there not a more effective solution? I'd love it if there was some kind of clip/holder that I could attach to the front of my speedlite and then just slide the gels in. Does something like this exist?

Lots of ways to do it. One is to cut the bottom out of a "stofen" and stick the gel inside it. I just use tape or a rubber band.

I just gaffer tape them on these days. In a pinch, Ive licked one and stuck it right to the flash lens but I dont recommend it as it might melt with a fair bit of high power flash use.

I use something like this but out of a thin plastic that slides between the bounce card and the flash body.
Mine was free as I used a document holder.

I just use a little blue tape, as I always have that in my camera bag and my grip bag.

Here are a couple commercial ones.

There are a lot of DIY solutions out there, too:

I've seen a DIY version of the second holder I linked above, the simple curved plastic one, but I can't find the DIY link any more.

Report back how you like 'em when you get 'em. A photog buddy of mine bought a set as well and I'm waiting to hear his thoughts.

Ooh, don't folks like squandering money on gizmos!
I've always used the "Circumferentially expandable Gutta Percha Lighting Foil Location Device [Patent not Pending]". However, these do fail consistently to swell the coffers of certain internationally renowned purveyors of 'Photographic Ephemera'.
Rumour has it that they are also obtainable with I love Justin Bieber" exquisitely, nay lovingly crafted into the surface but one has one's professional image to consider, doesn't one?

Rubber bands. Cheap as chips, no residue, durable, ubiquitous.

Other odd bits over the decades, simply to get the job done - not merely to polish and brag about cos I'm too mean to buy the polish!

It's also a grid which comes in quite handy for lighting backdrops (the main reason I bought the gels in the first place).
