Because it brings back good memories. Look at cars for example. Ford and Dodge have the Mustang and Charger/Challenger. Cars that people had in their youth. They want to relive that feeling and memory.

Then I think about all the advantages of digital and I'll put it back.I'm not much for sentiment. But the insides of a 1Dx will make me buy one for $2500.

Nothing prevents Canon from stuffing the innards/technology of the 1Dx in an AE-1 or an FT-b (hint, hint...) body. Retro has its aesthetic value. The 'melted' look of today's cameras is (to put it charitably) indifferent... Gerry

I love the lines of the FT-b on the left, as compared to the EOS 630 on the right. The 'melted' look of today's cameras is (to put it charitably) indifferent... Yeah...screw ergonomics. If your hand doesn't hurt after a job it's not done right.

Exactly. My AE-1 Program added a small screw on "grip" that was a pretty decent improvement over the AE-1. By the time I bought my Eos 3, the integrated grip had become normalized because it was just so much more comfortable to use. Why revert to something less comfortable just for the sake of how the camera looks? It's a tool. When I buy a hammer I don't buy because of the paint job. Function should come first. You can dress up that function all you want but when you start to take away function in favor of aesthetics you've moved on to having a camera as jewelry. I am serious....and don't call me Shirley.

People get caught up with the big "brainwashing" campaign put on by the big tech corporations, feeling afraid they'll get left behind so the continous get the latest toys and dump last years toys cycle. Sometimes using an older camera just feels good. I shoot with both a Fuji 6x9 and a Techahari 4x5 and the pleasure using this equipment cannot be measured.

Really...so to get the job done you need a modern DSLR...one that is designed off of a very popular model from days gone by is just a toy? I use an X100 which is a retro designed camera and not only is it a joy to use, it produces some fine images.
