Wow, that would be one awesome lens - capable of rivaling 200L f/2 in IQ :). But I'm wondering what would be the weight of this lens? I'd guess around 1.5-2 kg (3- 4 lbs). Also wondering what kind of design would be needed to keep the CA away. 85L like CA would look terrible on that lens.

If it was tack-sharp with teleconverters, giving one a 190mm f/2 and 270mm f/2.8 lens as well, then I'd seriously consider it.

Me too.

Too often I forget all about proper shooting technique (as if I hadn't been using it for decades).

Lets just say that Canon produced a 135mm F1.4. Lets say that it had to be the size of the 200mm F2. Lets say it was priced at 4,000 and that it was just as optically good as the 200 F2.

Would you buy it?

Heya,

Simply get the 85L and a crop, and you won't have to worry about the $10,000 135mm F1.4 prime.

Very best,

No, I'd buy a 135mm f/1.0.

At least make it worth $10,000

Very best,

Really? So why bother buying 200mm f2.0, if you can simply use 135L and crop? :)

If 135mm f1.4 was created, I suspect it might be the most magic lens for portraits, better than 200L. Just think of the same degree of creamness as 200 f2.0 does, just at much closer distance to the subject an background, and much more background included.

In order to be f1.4 a 135 mm lens would need a physical opening of 96.4 mm. That means a barrel of more than 100 mm in diameter. That much glass is going to need a lot of correcting, so a lot of elements. Would Canon also supply a truck to carry it?
