I'd appreciate help understanding why this doesn't work.

What I'd like to achieve is tethering an iPad to my phone to share wireless internet connection. Then using iPad to control 7D and use liveview over wftserver.

Am I having a brain fart and missing something obvious or does this configuration just not work?

Wftserver works fine on iPad over home wifi network.

I'm no expert but it might have something to do with this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4517 (external link)
Your home wireless router is not the same as device wifi capability. Device is not routing data but establishing a point to point connection.

Thanks for the help :-)

The phone indicates the WFT is connected but when entering camera IP address in browser the server times out.

I can connect to Shuttersnitch app using FTP over Personal Hotspot network.

Guess I'll just have to wait and see if Canon add WFT compatibility with EOS Remote app :-)
