Congrats on the new camera.
I do agree with Gabe. The 6d can easily handle BIF so kids should be cake.

Look out my friend! You must know how to use the 6D's AF correctly! Brace yourself for the inevitable!

Of course you're correct...but some need a reason to justify a 5D3.

Think large aperture, off centre and nailing perfect, critical focus on eyes....

It doesn't have to be kids, think of an action shot of any person in the above scenario.

I don't think any camera will consistently nail focus on the eyes of a kid running toward you at f1.4.

Not necessarily running towards but any kinds of 'actions' really.

Also you'd be surprised with what 5D3/1Dx can achieve ;)

NP! Use my 1.2 all the time on my crazy running kids and have perfect eye focus! Usually prefer to nail the right eye.

Can we see some samples and 100% crop, f1.2 with an off centre point on the 6D please?

I never had any luck doing that with my 5d2 which has similar AF to the 6D. Honestly when I had the 5d2, I didn't have any qualms about AF. Most of the stuff I shot was ok. But when I got the 5d3, it made everything so much EASIER, and I could do shots I technically couldn't do before. Like:
being about to use a side AF point with AI servo with my dog coming at me full sprint

As for babies, I love my 5d3. I don't think I could go back to 5d2 after having this amazing AF :)

And thus begins yet another 5D3 vs 6D debate thread...

Normally plays out as follows:

"How many people shoot action at F1.2 with an off center AF point?"

"Doesn't matter, answer the request for a picture from the 6D."

"You're just mad because you spent more money for the 5D3..."

"No, the point is that my camera is better than your full frame rebel..."

Potato, potato...

There's really no debate for the OPs topic... the 5d3 >>> 6D for kids. That's it.
