Last night the Creative Cloud application came sailing in with my Adobe updates and installed itself on my Desktop. It doesn't say anything about it being a trial. When I click on the desktop icon it instructs me to enter my birth date to begin using CC.

I have the complete CS6 Design Premium and don't want anything to do with CC. I'm guessing this is a more aggressive tactic by Adobe to get us "non-believers" to try CC.

Does anyone know the basis of this download. Anyone think installing it muck up anything?

Your date of birth?

Are you absolutely sure this download came from Adobe?

Sounds a little phishy to me.

Does seem odd. However, even if it was Adobe, they didn't come "sailing in."

Adobe doesn't have servers that test every possible IP address to see if it is currently using an adobe product. Instead, you were running something that contacted the adobe server and said "here I am."

Get yourself a software firewall (such as free Comodo) that will warn you when an application is trying to connect to the internet and give you choices on what to do with the request before it does. And if you already have a firewall, you have it set too loosely or the adobe product is on a whitelist.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe your CS6 updater probably triggered this. Do a google search to see if this is the case.

I seem to remember getting the CC application manager when I still had CS6 - It even gave the option to install Adobe Bridge CC along with the trials of Photoshop CC etc.

It does sound screwy, but when I logged into Adobe forums last night Adobe demanded my birth date with the message, " Your birth date is required to access the forums." And yes, it was the actual Adobe forums.

I'm assuming it's just another intrusion by Big Brother Adobe.

Yes, it came in through Adobe Application Manager downloads.

I'm just going to uninstall it and see what happens.

You are correct. I just don't understand why?

Thank you for your concern but this has nothing to do with malware. And it did just come "sailing in" with other Adobe updates on products that I have. I just do not have CC.

It would be like Adobe Illustrator coming in and installing with Photoshop updates.

Well, Adobe has gotten "hacked" recently, so I can imagine this is them trying to clean things up, trying to verify your ID you your account doesn't get messed with, assuming It's "officially" from Adobe. I guess and "automated upgrade" option got triggered as part of the process, but you are in no way required to "buy in" to the upgrade!
