I have been searching high and low for a suitable macro bracket. I tried the Manfrotto 330b but found it to be underwhelming at best. I have been waiting for Kirk Photo to release thier new macro bracket, but it kept getting pushed back. I finally found something. Its a Nikon SK-7, and it was roughly $15. Combined with a small Leitz ball head that is about 50 years old (heavier than it should be, but typical 60's German engineering) and a Wescott softbox and I have a rather pleasing set up. Most importantly its light, easy to manage and packs down to almost nothing. I have an Oben mini ball head, and while its much lighter, the build quality is non existent compared to the Leitz ball head. The Leitz allows for ample adjustments of the angle of the flash.

A rather poor iPhone pic.

Nice and compact, doesn't look too heavy. Good start with the new rig.

Im actually surprised how well the soft box works.

One question that has nothing to do with this thread. I The exif seems to not be giving any info for this image. I do not have it hidden. Idea's? It used to give all the info...

Heya,

Nice. Looks a lot like how my rig looks (near exactly), other than lens.

Very best,
