Photo-Gloves?

What kind of gloves do you use for Photography in the Winter?

It's winter time here in Sweden, today it was -11C...not fun going "barehanded", and all the thick isolated gloves are to clumsy for handling the camera (or buttons/dials on the camera )

I bought a pair of $10 wool hunting gloves / mittens at the local hardware store. Leather palms, they can be used as fingerless gloves when taking pictures, but convert to mittens in seconds.

-11 C, that's a challenge but last week I was shooting at -15 C (5 deg F) with latex gloves covered by thin ski glove liners. Not a perfect combination but works well for up to about a 1/2 hour, at which time you need to put your hands in pockets or get some external heat. For really long periods I have used the chemical hand warmers on the back side of the hand and between the latex glove and liner.

I use those and am quite happy with them. Handy stuff.

+1 for chemical hand warmers. Granted this could become costly if you're doing a lot of outdoor winter shooting, but they do work pretty well.

Eastern Mountain Sports has a house brand glove that I wear.
It's a thinsulate material with stretchy spandex that works well.

Good dexterity and able to manipulate all of the controls.

If it gets really cold. I put a pair or latex gloves on first then the EMS gloves.

I lived in these (http://glacierglove.co​m …ghtweight-pro-angler.html) while fishing in SW Alaska, and found them to be great for photography as well.

Easy to feel what is going on, and you can flip up finger and thumb tips if you want to have complete control

I wear fingerless gloves does the trick u can get pocket warmers to help out too

I'm very pleased with how well they worked last week during a very cold spell here in Western New York. While not my choice for taking care of the snow around the house, they worked very well for a trip to Niagara Falls to photograph the ice. They will stay in my camera bag for easy access until the end of the season.

John. Took a few pictures the other day when it was 6 degrees here in Delaware County, without gloves on. I know, I know...Within three minutes I had enough. Boy it was cold! When out for long term shooting I have a pair of Lowepro gloves with rubber nubs on the fingers, and a pair of the Aqua Tech Gloves with exposed finger tips. Both are nice.

Aquatech, bought a size larger and used polypro glove liners.
