Loop Road Alligator

This photo is from Loop Road which takes about a 24 mile trek
through the Big Cypress Swamp in Southwest Florida.

There are culverts all throughout the trip and the alligators like to lurk
inside from time to time. Here is what was sticking out of one. I was
right on top of it.

great shot, how easy is the road to travel by car? or is a truck needed?

They repaired the road last year, easily driven by car. Just remember it is 24 miles, no bathrooms or services in that stretch. Also if you want to shoot birds and use your car window as a camera west you are better to take the road from west to east. The birds will be out the driver side window.
Alligators are more likely to be on the opposite side.
