Just ordered the Samyang 14 earlier today after much reading to pair with my 6D, that review just further solidified my sound decision to get this lens :)

I've been thinking about it for the longest time and still thinking. I never have a manual lens before and have fear to use one. I need a wide one to replace my Tamron 17-35mm for better IQ.

Nice writeup. I've been wondering about this one - mainly for nightscape photography. For the price- it sounds like it can't be beat.

Nothing to fear, they used manual focus forever until AF came out, even so some of us still prefer it.

Pre-focusing is going to beat the fastest AF system 10/10 times.

You'll like it, just give a look at what you can do with it : http://reiep.deviantart.com …onix-Mont-Blanc-427072295 (external link)

Manual focus can be a pain at f2.8, but if you just go shooting landscape put it at f8, focus ring 1mm before infinite, and you're good to go.

yep, due to the ridiculously large DOF with a 14mm, MF is quite simple.

consider these numbers: 14mm wide open, when shooting with the subject 5 foot away, you've got 2 feet in front, and 9 feet in back! 11 feet DOF! Only time it gets tricky are when kids are running back and forth, and even then, it's not very difficult. I say if you just ballpark the AF, you'll get it right 9/10 times.
