I am hoping for some comments but espically critique of my latest webpage. It is about my Ikoflex TLR and the photos were taken with my 70-200 on my 300D.

http://home.comcast.net/~camerapage/Icoflex.htm (external link)

For some time I have been tinkering with a website for my baby daughter. As my web skills have developed I am getting closer to my dream of sharing my camera collection on my website. The Ikoflex page is my first real attempt at the style and tone I would like to have for future pages. I also have a Minolta and a Taron page but they are from an earlier time before I had todays skills, and are slated for overhaul.

As a fun note, all the images were taken with my NEW 70-200. Not the ideal lens for the subject but I haven't had a day in 2 months to properly play with it yet! So this project has served many goals.

Thanks for looking, please leave a comment!

I found it to be interesting (Of course I am always interested in that kind of stuff). As far as technical suggestions for the website: First and foremost you need to watch what resolution you build your pages in. I can tell that you set this up on a machine with a pretty high resolution. When I look at this using my notebook which is running 1024X768 I have to use the bottom scroll bar to move back and forth when reading the text. This kind of thing makes me crazy in that you shouldn't have to scroll left and right in 1024X768. You need to view your pages in various resolutions prior to publishing them.

The camera photos are quite good.

Thank you,

Ok yeah, I guess my monitor is set to 1280x1024 and it fits great;) . Which means that anyone with less resolution is overwhelmed :(. I can see the problem, what is the best solution? Should I just design for a smaller resolution say 1024? or is there some recomended formula?

Great site. A couple thoughts: If I came to it without direction (we did not have a common known interest in this camera) I would not know the purpose of the site from the screen that appears initially. IMO you might consider a high level summary of why the site is there, for whom and what people can find if they want to view what the site has to offer on the landing page. As cforslund points out the screens need to be clear and easy for the casual user to get into and out of or... drill down if the subject it of interest. I hope this helps.

It's clear. Far too clear! The type can be much smaller - as can the pics.

Didn't cause me any problems, but it would some.

Yeah- Anymore I pretty much design for say 1024X768. IMHO its pretty hard to find folks these days that are running anything less that 1024.... Kinda like the old days when we had to design webpages for those with "dial-up" :)

Thank you guys!

I resized things for 1024 and made the text and photos a little smaller.

I will work on the camera index page next to put things in context.

I really appreciate all the comments as this is a new area for me...
