Are photos of bridges worthy of consideration.. I am going back and capturing more photos of this bridge. Are there any pointers available??

I liek the second on emuch better. Not much to see in lentgh views of bridges. Full spans can look quite good.
You might want to clone out them spots on no.2 or clean your sensor :)

as above can you get a better angle because neither do anything for me personally but I think they would look good further away down stream maybe?
The light trails in the second one do improve it

Not really. The composition of both isn't anything special. It looks like you have either a dirty lens or more likely a very dirty/dusty sensor.

Bridges make excellent subjects- but they are hard to capture with originality. Time of day is important (as is with all landscape photog), especially if you can get a dramatic early morning fog. You really need to scope out the area to find the best viewpoint. Sometimes from under the bridge, or maybe from further away but using a zoom to cut out the clutter. Go to the local tourist store and find some postcards with these bridges and try to use that as a starting point. Just some suggestions...
